How do I tell if my saddle has the EASY-CHANGE Gullet System?

If your saddle has two large black screws clearly visible in the top of the chamber at the head of the saddle it has the EASY-CHANGE Gullet System. On older models these black screw maybe positioned under the skirt on your saddle. Some models may features the screws under the skirt on the saddle, or may have a concealed system whereby the falldown fitting (D-rings) either side of the pommel simply unscrew.

How do I know if the saddle has the EASY-CHANGE Fit Solution?

Turn the saddle upside down and look under the pommel, the saddle should have an EASY-CHANGE Fit Solution badge in the chamber. If not, check your saddle’s unique serial number stamped into the underside of the underflap – if the saddle has the letters ‘IP’ stamped within the serial number then the saddle is compatible with both the EASY-CHANGE Gullet System and EASY-CHANGE Riser System. How do I know what size gullet my saddle has?

All new saddles are fitted with a medium gullet (black) at point of manufacture. If your gullet has been changed after purchase the colours are sized as follows: Yellow – Narrow, Green – Medium Narrow, Black – Medium, Blue – Medium wide, Red – Wide, and White is Extra wide. Specialised WIDE models accommodating the EASY-CHANGE Gullet System WIDE feature four ultra wide gullet plates 1XW, 2XW, 3XW, 4XW.

How do I change the gullet on my saddle featuring EASY-CHANGE?

Saddles featuring the EASY-CHANGE Gullet System allow you to alter the width of the saddle tree for your horse's conformation. For further information on EASY-CHANGE Gullet System please CLICK HERE to watch the video clip on making changes in your saddle. If your saddle was manufactured prior to the EASY-CHANGE Gullet System then the gullet can be changed by a saddler.

How easy is it to make adjustments within the saddle?

The EASY-CHANGE Gullet System is EASY… it may take you 15 minutes the first time you change a Gullet, but you will become quicker as you get more familiar with it.

What tools will I need?

The only tool you need is a Phillips head 3 screwdriver.

Why must I only use genuine EASY-CHANGE Gullet Plates?

Genuine EASY-CHANGE Gullet plates are engineered to be completely rigid, ensuring they cannot spread or change shape under normal usage. Gullet plates will remain true to their size throughout their life. The use of non-genuine component parts in your saddle will void any manufacturer warranty.
